Typing French Accents:

To type French accents, hold down the ALT key, then type the three or four digits listed.




Adding French Accents On An English Computer Keyboard:
  
PC WINDOWS '95 - 2000

To add French Keys to an English Keyboard for Windows 95 or 98 systems,

go to my computer,
go to control panel,
go to keyboard,
go to language,
choose add,
pick french(canada),
etc.

see how you can use shift, left alt, to switch from fr to eng, displayed in task bar, keep eng as default,

(or can  point cursor at ‘EN’ in task bar in bottom righthand corner of window and click, then click on ‘French’)

PC WINDOWS XP

Adding French for Windows XP is different than for Windows 98.

This page explains how do to add French for Windows XP:
although it is not totally correct. It says to go to " Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options" but it should be just
"Regional and Language Options". ALSO, these instructions have you select French (France), instead scroll to and select  French (Canada) or Canada (French).

Note: the key strokes that you use to get French accents for French (France) are as follows: 'e to get é, "e - ë, `e - è, 'c - ç, ~a - ã, ^e - ê.
